Karin loves creating beautiful, functional spaces and landscapes for outdoor living. Her commitment to environmentally friendly design comes from both her great love of the outdoors and from early in her career, when she worked under one of the leaders of the sustainability movement in Southern California. Whether it be for public use or a private home, Karin strives to incorporate innovative storm-water management techniques, sustainable community design, and the use of renewable and recycled materials.
Her work experience includes master planning, native restoration, storm-water management, fire-wise and drought-tolerant landscaping, project management, preparation of construction documents, contract administration, and teaching classes. Projects include retreat centers, schools, housing developments, revegetation of levee repair sites for habitat restoration, parking lots and plazas for commercial developments, public parks, and private residences. She is co-author of Living Wild: Gardening, Cooking, and Healing with Native Plants of the Sierra Nevada.
Karin lives in Nevada City, California with her husband, Ben, and their two children, Kyla and Zane.
